about Matthew Shelton

Hi and welcome! I'm kind of a crazy guy and have decided to show more of it - far as I'm concerned life is too short not to be who you really are - don't you agree?

I'm long-time resident of Atlanta, Georgia, I'm married, and my wife and daughter are also both quite involved in the arts in various forms - they are both daily inspirations to me.

I've been online for a long time but not until now have I really focused at all on making my name itself any sort of online presence,  but recently realized that I should do that a bit more, at least to cut down on the confusion with all the other "Matthew Sheltons" out there! ;-)

I've been very involved with harmonica and guitar and harmonica on the web for a long time, and in several other online pursuits. Because of the number of online endeavors I'm involved with and have knowledge about I also have another website, E Matthew Shelton.com, that is mostly focusing on e-commerce and computer use in general. (and strangely enough my first initial is an "E" - really)

What I find, more and more, is that the computer world and the artistic world intersect more and more every day and in fact in more ways than not, one can't exist without the other.

That's a big reason why I got into computer use in the first place - seeing the tremendous power and potential of using computers for writing, for writing music, for recording, for making videos, for getting your ideas out there.

Every year since, computers have gotten stronger and more and more the thing to do, but when I first started there weren't many people doing that and in fact there are still many many people in the arts who either do their best to avoid computers or else they say that they're "not good with computers" and or they just don't see how computers can do so much more for them.

So my mission is to be a good example for these people, because artists of all kind need every little edge that they can get nowadays and believe me, so much of that edge can be achieved by first becoming computer literate, and then really going for it with the things you want to do artistically, and using computers and the web to get you where you want to go!

For example, I am not typing this, I am dictating it with a program called Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which I love because it quite often gives me a much more natural sort of output to my writing by speaking instead of typing.

It's pretty amazing really, I'm sitting here or I'm walking around with a headset on and dictating this and the text is appearing on the screen almost as soon as I speak, and it's almost perfect also. This could not of been achieved even a few years ago, so things are moving ahead in the digital realm and it's becoming better and better for anybody who considers themselves creative or artistic to go ahead and take advantage of these incredibly powerful tools.

I will be going over several of these tools within this blog and also tracking the various artistic things that I'm doing. I hope to be of service to you with these various writings (or at least entertaining sometimes!) so that we can go on this journey together.
